highlights from northern Thailand

We are happy to share our recent project in Northern Thailand. We had the privilege of collaborating with 10 local organizations that assist boys and girls who have been victims of trafficking.

This new documentary film explores the origins, performances, personalities and fate of Red Mole, the legendary theatre group which included Magdalena Aotearoa co-founder Sally Rodwell, mask and puppet virtuouso Deborah Hunt, the poet Alan Brunton and many others from Aotearoa’s alternative arts community of the early 1970s.

Recently, the Magdalena Project had to pay a fine for unwittingly using a copyrighted image on our website. The image had come via a member's email newsletter and we then posted the content without checking the image.

We are organising a symposium on Indian performing arts at the School of Music, University College Dublin, in the coming year. Please consider submitting a paper.

Our work in Palestine inspires us, and also reminds us of the ongoing plight of Afghan women and girls! Since the Taliban's takeover two years ago, women are homebound, forbidden from even going to a park with their children, usual destinations for a sunny summer’s day! Talented, educated women can no longer work in their professions; girls are banned from school.
