after the sprint ...
Our website upgrade sprint is over! On Friday I waved Valentina off on her train to Holstebro, and on Saturday farewelled Agnez heading back to Brussels. The week went far too quickly ...
The good news is that, despite running into problems mid-week that meant we had to completely change our plan for the newsletter, we have completed the upgrade of the email newsletter system. You should receive the first new newsletter in the coming week. We hope you like it!
As I mentioned in my previous post, we hit a big network problem on Wednesday. It took a lot of time to diagnose, and turned out to be not us, not our server host, but their network provider. Before learning this we'd already decided to move the development site back to Agnez's computer and work locally, however this wasn't simple either - the slowness of the network meant that it took several attempts to download the database. All up we lost a lot of time, which was very frustrating and means that we have not been able to complete the website upgrade.
But we have done a lot of work, and crossed a lot of things off our to-do lists; we were able to make good progress on Thursday and Friday, and reprioritised the tasks left to complete. Unfortunately we're all pretty busy in the coming months so it will be a while longer before you see the upgraded site and can enjoy it on your mobile devices, but we hope you'll be patient with us.
An extra benefit of the sprint was that Agnez and Valentina finally got to meet each other. They've both been working on the site since 2011, without meeting, so it was great for them to be able to get to know each other during a week of working and eating together.
