Championing the Voices of Women and Girls

We are getting ready for an exciting project in Jordan, working with six groups of women in six governorates to create plays that express their problems and their hopes. Our partners, Za'al and Khadra Creative Arts, are a well-loved group that uses the creative arts to foster justice and equality in Jordan.

As the new administration rolls back support for women, minorities, diversity, equity or inclusion, we will not stop working towards our mission to support those most vulnerable and create equitable environments around the world!

Throughout history, the most powerful stories have been told under the weight of restrictions or censorship. Theatre has always been a tool for resistance, truth-telling, and a vehicle for positive social change -- no matter the political climate.

We’ve worked in Myanmar, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, and Russia -- places where censorship is the norm and self-expression is dangerous. We’ve seen first hand how theatre artfully addresses these challenges. We continue to tell stories that resonate with those yearning to be validated.

The good news is... our project in Jordan is moving forward! We have had to reframe some details, but the core mission of the project remains unchanged: "championing the voices of women and girls" in Jordan.

"We must be suspicious of censors who say they mean to prohibit our art for our own welfare." - Maya Angelou

Thank you for your support! Your support ensures that we continue our mission to use theatre as a tool for justice, dignity and human connection.

With much gratitude,
