Spring Forward

As the spring, here in the northern hemisphere, brings some relief and hope to this ever fracturing world, it is also calling communities to gather, organise and resist the insanity of the mega powerful. I remain optimistic that we will find strategies that allow us to hold tight to our values, keep them safe. We have to.
In our Magdalena network we call out for donations every April to support the central hub of our communication website. This year I hope you can support us with whatever you can afford because we have come to a vital moment when we have to revive our entire website if we are to sustain this hub of connection.
Last year we were offered a website hosting sponsorship from Koumbit, a Canadian non-profit organisation and web host. We hoped to move the site immediately, but discovered that our site is so old that it needs to be updated before it can run on Koumbit’s servers. It’s also in need of an overall refresh – it was last redesigned in 2011.
Happily, we have two skilled volunteers for this project: musician and web developer Gabi Tomé, who works at Koumbit, and Lola, who is a designer. Along with Helen Varley Jamieson as project manager and content editing from Jill Greenhalgh and Meg Brookes, the team is getting started on rebuilding the website. Everyone is volunteering, but we need to pay for technical expertise in some areas. Once the new site is live on Koumbit’s servers, our costs will be reduced to occasional technical support and the annual domain registration.
Maintaining connection through our network is the primary goal and we welcome any help towards the costs of this project that you are able to offer. Thank you.
