Carla Pires Antunes

I was a Professional Actress (from 1985 to 1987, with the beginning of the artistic career in 1982) and a Founder member of the "Persona" Theatre Company, in 1986. I worked as Cultural Animator of the Culture House of Braga, with works staging with Amateur Theatre groups (February 1987 - February 1989).
Now, I am an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Education of the University of Minho in Braga, Portugal, where I teach courses in the field of Dramatic Expression, mostly in Drama and Theatre (Basic Education Degree, Theatre and Performative Studies Degree, Master’s in Theatrical Intervention and Associativism and Master’s in Sociocultural Intervention).
My teaching is guided by the principle that education should value cultural pluralism as the source of the richness of human experience, based on the respect and appreciation for other cultures. This entails the social acknowledgement of expressions, the respect for the diversification of education systems and the creation of schemes that involve families and the various social actors in the education process.
