Abstract | In this chapter Jamieson discusses how the processes of networked collaboration and shared knowledge have informed and shaped her artistic practice over the last two decades, and how in turn her practice contributes to increase understanding of collaboration, knowledge sharing and agency in the online environment. Examples of networked collaboration between artists, between artists and programmers, across disciplines and in a field where few if any models pre-existed, demonstrate this and explore questions such as: how do trust, exchange and negotiation function when collaborators are not in the same room – in fact not even in the same country, time-zone, language or culture? How can we build trust between people we have never met, and negotiate across such vast physical and cultural differences? What knowledge can we usefully share in this context, and how? |
